Custom/Hybrid Dual Fuel Pickup...reason?

Location

Never understood the reason for dual fuel pickup on the AM hulls/tanks. Not one of my skis is as thirsty as the SXR and even that one uses only one pickup from the factory. Would'nt you rather have on pickup split for dual carbs, so if you have blockage, the ski shuts down both cylinders?

more fuel demand from big cc big carb motors. duel pulse lines, duel pumps, duel pickups. most people are pretty careful what they put in the gas tank of these high dollar motors so a clog is unlikely, but i'm sure most people are running multiple layers of defense anyways - tank filters, inline filters

I have thought of trying a remote pump with one line to allow for a reserve line in my tank but haven't tried it.

The first though in my mind is that there is a higher instantaneous peak demand that requires the increased flow to satisfy these big motors and big carb combo's. The SXR may burn more fuel over the same period of time but the instantaneous demand at any given time is within what the OEM system can deliver.

Ballpark figure....at what CC's and/or size of carbs, do you guys think you will be needing dual lines. No WOT racing, just freestyle, cruising, short bursts...etc.

Dual pick ups were used back in the racing days when engines were limited to 780 cc. I found that sgl. pick up will run a 770 with dual 44 mikunis (a/m type, silver) just fine! My engines are larger than 800 with 46's and I use dual pick ups 'cause I did not want to experiment.

Well its good to know that even if I could afford a nice AM ski/Motor I wouldn't be able to afford to ride it.. I mean I could but not for long..
2 Gallons every 10 minutes.. Jeeeze..

I have a DASA 1200 with Novi 48's on single pickup, I am still jetting down as still rich, so enough fuel supply.
I did the calcs on 2/ 2.5N&S's, a 4mm supply can easily supply 2 pumps when they are drawing fuel on an alternating basis
