Jeastes1 has done an amazing SN build. I have spend 3/4 of this winter in front of the computer, researching hundreds of builds. Its about to go down!!
http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/105801

So i went on craigslist and in an hour and 30 minutes, including drive time, i had 2 sn hulls and all the materials i need to start.

Last night i cut And cut. Then poured foam to reshape the nose. Its hanging from the rafters to cure while im at work. This is gonna be fun!

shorten the rear 3 in. Bring the nose back about 3 in. Going to add rocker and reshape the front, top and bottom. The entire tray will be lowered, but on the sides of the pump cavity, i am lowering the tray another 1.5in, so my feet are nestled in all nice. The hood and gunnys will be redone with a little more curve and style.

I will weigh the hull throughout the build.
And post more photos soon. Please post Any ideas or feedback !

i'm impressed you found 2 hulls so fast!
bravo.

i'm going to be starting a SN build soon also, i'll be watching this for ideas.

Free and $30. Ha ha.

I have a ton of fiberglass already.
$175 into west system epoxy resin.
$100 onto foam.
$180 into gel coat, primer and paint.
I have enough leftover parts laying around to build a complete, strong running ski.

looking at chopping 3 off the rear of mine, and doing rocker to the nose as well, not looking at doing a lot of tray work,
already have a pwcdoctor versi-max, will clean up the nose may remove or at least trim the front bumber, looking to remove the back or trim it down considerably.

I just need to get my other ski back on it's feet before i start chopping this one up.

Shortening the rear is easy enough.
reshaping the nose isn't bad, you could leave the existing structure, and just add some shape.
So far i have 1 hour of labor into cutting, defoaming and pouring foam.
Shaping will take some patients. But glassing is quick. . You could complete a job like mine in 2-3 weekends easliy.

I'm tearing out all the foam once the shape is glassed in. Im using the stock nose styrofoam and polystyrene, to fill the cavity. And im going to install a drain on each side.. No scuppers.

scuppers suck but a versiplug max works as a scupper should with none of the draw backs. I swear by mine, hated my wamilton's scupper.

I saw another build where they reshaped the nose by heating the SMC and using a bracket to pull the nose up, so i'm looking to do that, less glass, and maintain the OEM hull for the most part. may try to go with a BOB style nose on it, with no bond rail at the front, not completely sure yet.

Its actually the stock foam piece i was going to use to help shape the nose. But its an ever changing build. There is very little set in stone.

Almost off work, its crazy how excited i am about this build. Its all i can think about! I even wake up in the middle of the night looking for tools! Lol

damn near buy a complete ski for the cost of some of the fixed steer hoods i've seen.

you're getting me amp'ed to start my project. but priorities, need to get other ski done.
F'in gasket didn't show up today like it should have. USPS is pissing me off.

i would mellow the swoops out a bit and throw a fix steer hood on there!

after looking at the photos, i was thinking about reshaping the gunnys.. first of all i lowered the tray and now i feel like the gun wales are way too high. check out the photo of my shoe. ( is a 9.5 and it looks like a childs shoe)
No fix steers for me, i had an X2 as a kid and i never cared much for it.

talk about too many projects, look at my yard man! I was going to do a separate build thread, but there's really no point.. In an effort to keep busy and work efficiently, i decided to do 2 similar projects at once.. There's a bit of down time involved in composites, to keep moving i hacked up my girlfriends RN.

in the past year, my best friend and business partner has taught me all that i know about composites. He was working on a lowered hood and nose design before his accident. well the project was half complete, so its up to me to finish it..

the RN isn't going to be as in depth as the E.Z. SN build, but there's still a bit going on. I'm going to finish the hood/nose piece, defoam, footholds and reshape gunnys. then she's going to pick out a paint scheme.

polystyrene is easy to work with, and water resistant. but i found that many products will melt it. like sprat glue, and polyester resin.. one product that didn't melt the foam was WEST SYSTEMS epoxy resin. DAP weldwood works too.. i knew i was going to run into a few chemical issues, so i tested a few things before i spent the big $$

on that hood, i hope you don't plan on having a finished hood with a lot of body filler. that'll crack off with the "stress of riding"

do it right, get it all smoothed out, make a mold of it, then you can lay up a more reliable part.

The bondo is just for shape. I couldn't sand the foam down fine enough. I am going to glass it all in then clean it up real nice. But thanks for checking me, I'm open to ideas and criticism.
As far as mold go it's just me, I'm not sure if I wanna get that. In depth with it.
Honestly it all depends on how symmetrical I can get it.
