Freestyle Eme q8 build thread

See page 4 for completed build/final product.

I decided to finally make a build thread, i was going to do it sooner but we were just focused on getting it done during the season. The majority of the drive line and fab work credit goes out to my friend Paul(ebski600) he does awesome work! He spent all of his free time on this boat and i can't thank him enough for making this build happen, it wouldn't have been possible without him. My brother and i are somewhat younger and we share this boat, we sold everything to make it happen. It is now finished but this winter we plan on possibly putting different footholds in and a few other improvements here and there.

I will post pictures in my next post.

some before and after pictures. When we received it it was blue and pretty scratched up. we repainted it with billet silver metallic paint and black with copper flake for the bottom.

Awesome ski, super clean. EB is a genius. Coming off a superjet, this thing really kicked me in the ass, so much fun!

Sweet seeing Jake flip this thing off boat wakes with a 735.. Seems like some guys have a hard time flipping with more motor than that.

Lets see pics of the yamaha pump in there...

Instead of making a bunch of conversion brackets in the pump area we decided to do it right and make new inserts so it is rock solid. the pictures pretty much explain it all. The rideplate needed to be cut and re-glassed for clearence, the steering cable also had to be extended, and the scoop grate is custom(no pics sorry). The inserts were glued in as well as bolted through the tray as you can see. We went a different route than anyone else we have seen and it all seems to be working very well! It would have been much easier to do a kawi mag pump but we decided to give the 144 solas a shot. Also we made motor mount conversion brackets as well as a plate for the yamaha midshaft. We used a superjet midshaft and a -07 superjet driveshaft but had to mill the midshaft back a little bit to get full spline overlap. it was a lot of jacking around but we are happy with the results.

Thanks for sharing, Curious to know if/how much the lower pump/ride plate affects the ride.

Thanks!
Don't worry Tommy, we are shortening the pole and getting wider bars this winter! haha You wont be squeezing your tits together anymore!

Hahahahaha! I am not use to narrow bars and after I rode the ski I came in and that was my first statement! Forgot about that! I'm lookin forward to having you guys down this year! Next year if you still have it I'll be able to give it a go:)

Thanks for sharing, Curious to know if/how much the lower pump/ride plate affects the ride.
From the picture, and from what I thought before I actually had to cut the ride plate up, it looks like it hangs way lower but after reglassing the plate and bolting it up to the hull there's less than 1/4 inch bump and that's it. It's barely noticeable by looking and touching it so that should say something about how it rides, despite me never riding a kawi q8.

Like I said before, I've never ridden one with a kawi pump but this thing hooks hard for only a 735. With no trim I'm so close to getting the nose around (flatwater) so this next summer I should be able to flatwater flip it with trim for sure. Man, I'm getting antsy...
