SX/SXi/SXi Pro Engine Rebuild

Found out what was wrong with my ski. I didn't have a spark so I replaced the ignition. Now I have spark. The ski still wouldn't start. I thought it was the stator. Nope, it was fine. I didn't have compression so I took the head off. One of the pistons was pretty damaged. I have never done a rebuild on a 750 sxi. What are some ideas on what I should do next? Should I pull the entire engine today and go from there?

If the piston is damaged you will have to pull the engine for the rebuild so might as well do it now...Next depending on how bad the cylinder is scratched up you will probably need to bore it out by .5 and order new pistons/rings from pro-x, but first make sure there was no damage to the crank/case before you buy the top end kit...that would be my 2 cents on where to start.

Got the engine out. One piston was okay and the other was pretty destroyed. One of the piston rods is ceased onto the crank. I think I am going to have the lower and top end rebuilt.

Might want to look into just buying a good used engine from a reputable person...the price to rebuild top and bottom end might be a bit much vs a used engine.

If I were in your situation I would just have the top end bored and have the crank rebuilt. I've never heard great things from sbt and buying used is just going to lead to a rebuild anyway. Just get some pro-x pistons and have the cylinder bored 1mm over. Then just send your crank out to jeff at www.competitivecrankshafts.com so he can rebuild it. Whatever you do don't buy a hot rods crank. They break and it gets ugly. Buy that's my 2 cents.
