1100's and 1200's are pretty bad about that they have a minimum of clearance between the cases and the crankshaft.

My friend's old Kawie 650 SX did that because the ski sat around then he got it running. It destroyed the cases, cylinder, bed plate, starter, reed cage, crank, ect..

Well I thought it was pretty cool until the next year my X2 did the same thing from having too much water in the gas. Thos water traps Kawasaki use are a joke. I remove them from now on. Well my ski kept running on one cylinder. I guess I got lucky because my starter, intake manifold, and reed cage didn't get busted up.

When an engine blows liek that, it really blows a hole in your wallet! $$$$

I can hear it now: :phone: "It's just got slower and started making a noise for a while, then would not go at all"

To tell you the truth most couchers never know till its way too late, the seats are sealed pretty well and then theres about 6 or 8 inches of foam on top of that, usually they say I was riding it and it just stopped.:sad2:

I bought a 96 1100 ZXi off a guy for cheap, $400 for it an the trailer. Well he says... It was running great and I was WOT when it just stopped running. i started it back up and it made it a little ways and then shut off. I went a little more and it died again each time going less and less.

Well after I bought it... I found the oil pump wasn't hooked to the engine anymore. Apparently the two bolts holding it on broke off. I thought yeah, they don't run for too long WOT with no oil...

Too bad the ski has sat for like 3 years and everything was rusted up. Looks like it will need a COMPLETE rebuild and tripples are not cheap to rebuild.

I think I am going to keep the engine and electrics for a future 800 SXR transplant and then put the 800 SXR engine in my X2. Seems like a good plan.

it came out of a 98 xl1200
the owner just bought it off a guy who told her it ran as long as you sprayed starting fluid through the carb
i got a good bottom end off flea bay and already had a cyl. so it got new pistons and a new head
the only thing reuseable was the carbs, intake manifold, 2 reed cages, head shell, exhaust , elect.
cost her about $2500
