Ever "not feel it" when riding?

I had a brutal day at work today. Worst one in probably 5 years. All I wanted to do when I got home was take out the SJ. My wife knows me so well that when I told her how much my day sucked, she even said "Take the roundnose out for a while, that always works for you".

So, I did. But I just could not get into it. The ski ran great, the water was nice, there were no idiots out on the water, but still I could not find my 'happy place'.

Also there are times when I ride when I can be having a complete blast and be riding very well and my mind all of a sudden will tell me to bring the ski to the dock because I am either going to get hurt or bust the ski. Kind of like a premonition.

Anybody else ever have that happen?

I have those quite often. At least once a month. Usually something goes wrong when trying to get to the lake. Then when you are out riding, it just does not feel right and you had better pack it up before something else happens.

I had that the first day on my ski after 18 months. I had a bunch of time off because of injuries, and then spent 3 months rebuilding my ski: XS stroker motor, reinforced, shortened. I was super-stoked to be heading to the lake, but on the way their my CEO called to say that he was declaring the company insolvent and it was being foreclosed. Buzz kill. Talk about ruining the day I had been looking forward to for months!

My ski has been broken for a year now so it feels like its that way every time i ride my buddies ski. It's lame to be riding a 550(with 650 swapped in) when you're used to a bpiped 701 SJw footholds.

Basically its like being told "enjoy riding in circles and hopping, cause thats all you can do"

Yep, I have those days. Always feels like I am just burning gas for the heck of it.
There have been times I was on the water for only 30 minutes before getting bored.

Riding buddies make all the difference in those situations. You can be bored and pissed off but the second you get wrapped up trying to impress your friends or help them out and your problems disappear.

For me somedays going ridin' is the best feeling in the world, even before I ride, just the drive to the water bumpin' tunes as loud as my JL sub can pound, gettin pumped up. That is an awesome feeling when you know you are going there to f*** s*** up... thats the way I see it.
Other times its like nothing is going right, i feel like crap, im going riding because thats just what I do sundays and every chance I get, its raining and blowing 65 mph, and 50 degrees, but you know what its still riding, and better than watchin' soaps on a couch. Even when I sunk my brand new not even a day old SXR by ramming it into the side of my 550 with a buddy on it... I had fun knowing that it could be fixed and that is part of life, and I learned how to look before i turned. some people have no idea how important that is. but back to the purpose of yes, everyone has their off days bro, use it as a inspiration to ride as hard as you can and push your abilities, then it will all come around and you will have more good days and enjoy yourself in the progression

Those days suck. I had one a couple weeks ago. Worked way too hard all week and when we finally went camping I had nuthin left for riding. I tried to force it and all of a sudden my body said no more dude. I headed back to camp immediately.

But there have been other days when I just wasn't feelin it. I wanted to ride, but just didn't have the right frame of mind to make it happen. Trailered it and called it a day. Sometimes staring at the water feels better than riding it.

Had one of those days last Sunday. Had a very slight hang-over that got me a splitting head-ache after a few subs. Rode for 40 minutes and called it a day. Spent the rest of the day on the beach, catching tan.
For me it's hard to be away all week, leaving only the weekends for riding. Since we have so much daylight this time of the year, I could ride after work any day of the week, if I was home...

I battle with this often. Some days I can make the FX1 rip through at turn full speed, other days I find myself tossed about 30yds from ski. My best days definitely have a strong correlation to riding partners. On the "off" days I have found a strong sativa strain to be most helpful. b-ripp'n'brappp!

Been riding by myself quite a bit lately, didn't think much of it for a while since I was working on getting my ski tuned in but now that it is running well it gets pretty damn boring on the lake by yourself and then I have no ambition to do anything but cruise around.

Yup, we all have those, I have put the ski in, ridden out past the no wake bouy and just turned towards the bank and just sat there. Other days, When I had my SXR and was training, I would go do that to burn off steam, well, somedays I was just off, it was like my mind was about 1 second behind. I could not make the turns to save my life........ Just part of it...
And no matter how hard you try to burn through it, you cant, it just gets worse. Best thing to do is just get off.

I have those days occationally... and that's when I have to call it a day or I end up forcing a trick and get hurt.

last time I rode and was not 'feeling it' I came up short on a flat water BR and took the bars to the face... chipped a bone above my eye (eyebrow) and got a massive black eye. even with my helmet on...

When I get those days I sometimes just cruise around the lake a little to see what lake houses have come up for sale recently. It's kind of mellow to just lean on the pole at about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and tool around a bit. So even my off days are good days - I just go with the flow.

I bought my first stand up over 20 years ago and I start to get all excited when Im just preparing to go. Then especially when i get there(riding spot) and am getting my gear on the adrenaline really starts to really kick in. Gotta love that feeling.

I'd say I'm still stoked about riding and still "feel it".every time, but I just turned 47 years old and its my lower back that is start to not like "feeling it" ...lol

Oh well, no one is getting younger.. You just have to do what you can do and make the best of it I guess.

Heres' a link to a good little read when your not "feeling it". It may get you motivated. Its called "See the ride":
