CHeck it out, riding WOT across the bay on my SJ and it felt a little strange. It was still riding OK but not hooking up as much as normal, friend flags me down and says he saw something fly up in the air from behind me WTF?!? Kill the ski and sure enough my intake grate was gone, and I am sitting there kicking myself as if I had not tightened it or something. Get back to the dock and find this........ has anyone ever seen this before? It was a crusty looking intake grate before I put it on and I clean A LOT of corrosion off before painting and installing it. I guess its time for a new grate and pump shoe lol.

your rear bolts came loose n you kept riding ski...hence why grate couldnt handle the downforce n snapped

you got lucky it broke instead n ripping the inserts outta hull...

I know, I was afraid it did that when I was out there. I am also glad it did not damage the pump in any way............

Wouldn't know, it happened on our way in (thankfully) and it was a good foot or so of chop, I wasn't able to wind it out lol. What do you guys recommend for a new grate? And should I get an OEM shoe or one of these fancy aluminum ones? Thanks......

Anything is possible, I mean I am sure there is still floating around from sandy but I don't recall hitting anything. Oh well happens time to fix it and ride lol.....

Definitely get an alumium shoe. You dont want this to happen again right? They're kinda a b1tch to install but they wont break.

I heard problems with the aluminum pump shoe from blowsion when you put a worx grate on. Are there other pump shoes?

get a regular pump shoe and a torrent intake grate from ATP - they are billet and adjustable!

Just bolted the stock one on the front and some screws into my messed up shoe so I can ride tm. I have the new shoe and grate on order but its to damn nice not to ride lol.

Rode all day with the stocker screwed in place and it worked like a charm lol. Just waiting on the new stuff to come now but at least I know I can ride......

i went to try a pjs toploader last week n after 10 minutes the river eat it.

torn right out my fiberglass
