Exhaust leak from manifold-Need advise

Hello, I purchased a rebuilt motor for my 2000 Superjet a few years ago. Moved up to a 780cc from the stock 701. The motor has been very reliable and nice power. My problem is that I have developed an exhaust leak coming from the manifold. I removed the manifold, cleaned everything up and replaced the gaskets. When putting the exhaust manifold back on, a few of the bolts felt stripped and would not torque down. I put it all together and as thought, same exhaust leak. So I removed the motor to get a better view and found that most all the threads had been replaced with heli coils that were failing. What do you think is the best method to repair this, as I am afraid if I try to drill out the heli coils, I may do more damage than good. Machine Shop? Thanks in advance for any advise. Griggsmars

You dont drill out helicoils. There is a speciel tool to get the out.
Do you have pictures? if they are installed correctly they should hold up just fine.
I did back to back testing with timecerts, and helicoil is far supirior to timecert.
My advice would be to have someone help you with a new helicoil or timecert.

I wonder if they just threaded the heli coil into the stock m10 size holes like alot of people do, and its ate the aluminum threads in the cylinder, and not the steel threads of the coil?

Either way a insert is the way to go if you got the time and access. A pick will pull a coil out easy.
