Factory pipe dry pipe

I recently picked up a round nose that had one of these, I think its an early one, it has a ruff marble like finish. Does anyone have experience with this pipe and is it close to any of the pipes factory makes now. also was this pipe made more for freestyle or racing.

sounds like you got a Type 4 (Blue)

it more of a race / rec pipe, not great for freestyle, but some people like them........ require alot of maintanence.

Run a small sea strainer with that pipe if its the pipe I think it is. The absolute smallest grain of sand can and will clog the inlet to the outer jacket of the pipe.

It ruined many summer days becuase I would have to go home and back flush the jacket. :aargh4:

the pipe is a black marble finish and is huge, took a lot of work to get out, I want to put it in my square nose for freestyle/freeride use and wondered if it would work for that. it also has a e.w.c.i. I just bought a factory b with a mod chamber for my round, and wanted to know if this pipe would be similar in performance.

The black hi rev type works well if set up properly. It does require more maintenance than the B. If you are running it on a mild limited I would expect the b pipe to be a little stronger right off idle. The Dry will pull more RPM if you are looking for mid to top end power. I would not run the dry pipe on a non girdled head/cylinder setup.

I am also looking to buy a black type 4 if you decide to sell it.

if you are talking about the type 4 than I would recomend it without ecwi. Plus the boat will be easier to tune than b. Also I don't understand the maintenance comment apart for harder removal from hull. Also it hits pretty hard in my freestyle setup running on 91 octane
