Freestyle Feet positioning?

This question might be somewhat general, but here it goes. I'm getting to the point of trying to learn a few basic tricks and my question is, what tricks are you guys keeping your feet side by side(or locked in the footholds) on and which tricks are you staggering(one front/one back) your feet on? I'm trying to figure out positioning that provides me the best control..THX!

just look at pix and vids of other people, for surf it looks like people are riding both ways depending on rider and/or trick. but i dont know if i really see people doing flat water flips and rolls surf stance. i switch back and forth and have my tray set up like this with another strap on the back edge that i was about to install at time of picIMG_3184.jpg

I ride one foot forward. For everything, nose stabs, subs, 180s, general riding, and now attempting rolls. Seems if I ride both feet back the nose goes way high and you see people doing those lame jumps where the nose shoots straight up, and they think they got sooooooo high. Seems I can get further forward, or at least feels like it with one foot forward also. I also rode skateboards alot in highschool though.

Im learning rolls now like that. Without footholds, because they seem sketch to me also. I jam my front foot under the extinguisher holder, and it works great. You can use the momentum of your body, and grabbing the pole to keep yourself planted in the tray for the most part.

Just my opinion on that.

Ive been through this with all the guys that ride surf down here a couple of times. It is complete and total preference. I ride surf stance all the time then was trying to kick in as I cam towards a wave, then I ate crap. White dog crap. just not balanced and dont have the central with both feet back. after talking to a few of the guys about it and paying attention to how they fly I started staying in surf stance. I will never put my left foot back again. I am curently making my own tray right now and I am not even putting in a place to put my left foot back to

You just topically have more control.

I like what your saying. On my RN I don't have anything to tuck my toes under. Maybe some straps? My feet seem to pull up without anything to hook under...

Very helpful! It's interesting, that's similar to how I ride my snowmobile in the powder, expect for the big jumps!

I was going to do one foothold on the side that i have my foot back on. And run a strap up front. You can do a front foothold also on the ski, seems like a pretty straightforward mod if you were defoaming and doing all that anyways. Otherwise id just go with a strapo up front my rear foot doesnt lift much. I notice people that ride surf stance tend to jump MUCH flatter. I cant stand the straight leg ass out nose high jumps. But thats just me

i ride surf stance in the surf and on flatwater i will typically keep my feet in the holds.. i have a long ride plate so the nose stays down for the most part... just feels better jumping boat wakes with both feet in the holds...just learning to do nose stabs and it seems more comfortable for me with feet in the holds.....for cruising i will ride surf stance though

Both feet in the foot holds will give you better and easier rotation. Therefore if you are in process of learning or waves are not big enough both feet in holds is better. On the other hand if you ride in a choppy surf, handling is much better surf stance. If waves are big enough and u get enough air, surf stance should work as well as feet in the holds for landing rotation tricks..

Any type of tricks and even doing a top speed run, I ride both feet in the holds. It rides nose high and I get a lot higher that way when jumping wakes. If I'm just cruisin around, I'll put my right foot forward
