been trying to get them down for a while now. just never could get them landed just right and either landed to sideways or pearled the nose and ate $hit!
yesterday out riding with a buddy, i kept trying it over and over, i think im getting the hang of it now! the first one wasnt pretty, i landed kinda sideways in front of the wave but stayed on. then i saw the curl, twisted just enough and grabbed some throttle, and nailed it! came down perfectly on the white wash and shot out in front of the wave. the surf was small, like waist to chest high, but for me it was perfect to learn them on. i kept on trying the rest of the day, and was getting more and more comfortable with them.
the only thing i notice, is when you land a little sideways, the hull or the hood made a cracking sound, i thought i really screwed something up, but found nothing after i got home and went over the ski looking for damage. i think it was the hood shifting a little bit.
ive heard of people reinforcing the hood, but i dont know which areas to reinforce. should it be around the hinge area or maybe the latch? it seems those would take the brunt of abuse.
anyway, just wanted to brag a little because im stoked that im finally getting them down
