First handgun- VP-9...thoughts

Just bought my first gun/pistol. I decided on the hk vp9 after testing out the sig 9mm, m&p, and glock19. Only blasted 50 rounds between them all so it was short.
I really liked how the sig and vp felt but the hk is sexy looking . I have zero experience and figured I can sell this or buy another if in the long run I start hating it.
I'm in NJ so this was quite a process as they don't trust us with guns lol. Just seeing what all you gun - friendly state-goers have to say about my purchase.

I hear nothing but good about HK and their quality. Personally never got to shoot one, but would love to get the chance to.

It is a good start and deff wont be your last gun purchase! You should look at getting a Ruger 10/22 next and going to an appleseed event. You will learn a ton and master the basic's. It is a lot of fun too.

My cousin who taught me some things is a gvmt narc agent and he was pushing the G19. I'll have to try the ruger and walther next time I go

I have always been a glock fan but ended up buying a Walter ppq 9mm and couldn't be happier.

I have a hard time buying anything other then glock, they are just so reliable. Kinda like the AK of pistols. not pretty, but always work when I pull the trigger.

I have heard a lot of great things about the VP-9 (and HK in general). I have a G19. Good reliable firearm. I love my CZ SP-01. I would definitely look at CZs.

I'm picking up a G19 Friday, I don't think you could go wrong with a VP9.

You can't go wrong with any of the guns you listed. Just do yourself a favor and buy the gun that feels the best when you handle and shoot it. They all look the same to the bad guy.

I've tried several times to like a glock enough to buy one. Then I handle/shoot one and hand it right back...

HK is good, although the customer service slogan is "because you suck and we hate you" so theres that.....
You did the best thing and tried several choices before purchasing. Lot of other choices out there though so keep shooting others guns if you get the chance. Nothing felt more sexy and perfect in my hand then a CZ75b. It also is one of the smoothest shooting pistols I've ever tried. After putting a few hundred rounds threw it I realized I just don't mesh with that grip [too small for me] and was all over place with my shots. I stick to larger framed grips now like my FNP45.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the review by MAC (military arms channel)?
He was carrying the VP9 until he did some stress testing on it. He put some sand or mud on the action and it completely locked up. He ditched it for his tried and true G19.
I don't care for Glocks, and especially Glock people.

But for a range toy, I think the VP9 is a good choice. I love the way they feel in my hand. Trigger is pretty crisp for a striker fired pistol. Don't get me wrong, not a bad purchase, but I wouldn't trust my life with it.

That's what cuz says "glocks ain't pretty but they always work".
I'm not in Texas, we don't carry here , and I hope I never have to run to my closet to grab and protect.
I am however all-ears for opinions from gun-friendly states like TX. Thx for tip swap , not gif worthy ??

FYI, most guns will lock up when you put sand and mud in the action. Glocks will as well, just not as often as others. Just like an AK, they do indeed actually jam. Just not very often.
