Fixing LC Fuel Jugs

I've got some LC jugs that I need to replace the vents on and might do O-Rings as well. Is there something better than LC brand stuff? I've never used fuel with ethanol in it and my O-Rings are swelled up. Sometimes they leak and sometimes they try to jump out of the cap when I unscrew it. Also the vent cap on one cracked within a few weeks and then the second one within a few months and they are always popping out of the little tether thing that snaps into the top. Any tips on making these things perform better?

VP I think have like a 2 inch cap, the LC ones are like 4 inches. The vents may be similar though.

Do we have a vendor that sells these parts? I had a hard time finding someone that wasn't charging an arm and a leg for parts that could be shipped via first class postage.

My Scribner is definitely a smaller lid and the VP looks more like that. I can still measure and get a viton from McMaster so thanks for the info.

The vent, I could probably tighten down less and it may last longer. I just hate spending money on junk. On one, I never noticed it having a little rubber washer inside to seal it. On the other, it is getting all shredded up and leaving pieces in the gas.

I ordered a 10 pack of o rings from mc master carr for my lc jug. The pack was like $22 and I still have like 5 left over o rings. They Mc master rings seem to hold up better. If you are interested in some of the left over rings PM me. $2 each plus shipping.
