so i'm coming to the con conclusion that i need a different rubber grommet to get this to work with out hitting the flywheel? this is a pic with it just pushed on the crank and not even bolted down.

Art told me to silicone the 2 forward holes and drill 2 new ones. Wish I had a pic

That's close.... I'd order a plain grommet with no holes and move them back a bit.
The solid grommet is Yamaha part number 90480-23M69-00 and around six bucks.
