foothold timeline question

yo guys, my footholds will be here tomorrow and im super pumped to get em in quick so as to enjoy the fourth of july riding as well as perhaps this sunday. thats where my question arises. my question is that once ive foamed, glassed and turfed and everything is all done (i will be starting the project as soon as i receive the shipment and will work on it till its done), how long do u think i need to wait for the glass. epoxy, foam and my mats to fully set up and bond/harden?? alot of the products say 7 days to cure, but i know i dont need to wait that long, gimme some thoughts please. also, i went with the mac mashers so there is no tray cutting involved just foaming and securing along with a prefitted blowsion mat kit too.:Banane01:

p.s. i will be done with it all i think by friday afternoon

One day will be fine but I have ridden a ski with the mashers and there is not enough hold in them. I would reconsider my choice of holds and go with a real foot hold that you need to cut in. IMO.

i totally agree about the footholds, i wanted 24-7's or possibly diggers, have researched them and tried them on a few other boats. however, my father bought my ski for me when i was 18, now that im 22 and have got a job, money, and better riding skills we clash over mods because he doesnt like the idea of me cutting holes in the ski and is also totally lame when it comes to speed. i tried to explain but it just ends in him threatening to sell it, so, why mess with a free ski setup right? im bummed but i guess i shouldnt be greedy. also, after he saw me pull half a backflip with no footholds and a stock motor he said "no way in hell will you modify that thing". and before you claim bs i must note that i hit a 70 foot yacht wave in the north channel as he was just coming on plane, we are talking near ocean size surf here so it was a great help to get me up in the air.

why dont you buy the ski from him? or buy your own? a free ski is nice but whats the point if its not yours. and if your pullin backys off boat wakes then its time to build a real boat! besides, skis get the sh*t beat out of em when your doin that stuff so you might want to avoid the problem of explaining why you hood has a bunch of cracks and your tray collasped and foam is waterlogged.

haha very true, but its an sxr. not really an all out free ride boat so i'd prefer to have a freebee with a few mods than drop 10g on a freestyle boat. now you'll say you dont need 10g but if i do one im gonna do it right and go with a custom hull and a 5mm stroker with all the bells and whistles. itll give me somethin to look forward to in the next few years but until then i think ill continue beating on this one and letting him/insurance repair it as it needs. im such a cheapass that way!! but what do u guys think? just a day and a half to let everything set up, humidity is and will continue i assume to be anywhere from 60 to 90 percent in the next 5 days.

an sxr is a GREAT freeride boat

I vote to buy the ski from him.......dude, your TWENTY TWO

grow a set, buy your own ski and do with it what you please

im 22, have a summer job, and law school starts in the fall, so for the next three years ill be in a book and in debt, im gonna hold off on "growin some" and just let pops pay the bills as long as i can ride it out.

I have installed a set of mashers before and I would just put about 50 screws or pop rivets around the holds to keep them on for a few weeks. No foam or glass. Then use some B stock and cover it all up. Then in a few weeks or maybe a month get a set of footholds and get everythign ready and do a real set of footholds at a buddys house. When dad wantes to know why the turf is a different color then tell him that the old stuff had a recall because of air bubbles and you had to replace it with the black. The color difference will hide the fact that there are real footholds in there. And not the mashers... He'll never know the difference. AND if he does notice forgiveness easier than Permission.

wow, now that is a great idea:hail: i take it you've pulled these moves before. top notch. im excited to say that i got my packages from john at blowsion today :arms: also, he said my lime green composite rails are goin in the mail tomorrow:Banane01: so ive got lots o fun projects for the weekend!!! thanks for the advice fellas, and after i get a little time in with these i think i just might have to go ahead and put in some new footholds this fall if i get some time around school and go with some cut out kickers. the fire for modifying and freeriding are building:woot:
