300/440/550 For all you blaster lovers!

I just got back from looking at a 1994 Blaster. Heard thru the grape vine that this guy had one he does not like it. First visual it needs new hydro turf and it not to shiney. Looks like the took the hood off and dropped it the one corner there is a piece missing. Open the hood oil in the bilge and no battery. We jump it off of his tractor and it fires right up and sounds tight. The exhaust is leaking going into the water box. That seems to be where the oil in the bilge came from. I do a compression test and it has 140 on both holes. As I pull the plugs out it has 2 wrong plugs both NGK but wrong temp and one is short. One has the screw on top missing. The impeller looks good but a little pitted. I roll it on its side and the intake grate plastic is broken. The hull has a few gouges in it but still solid. He said that he would throw in a 1994 waverunner for parts for the price of $650. This ski was a mess lots of parts missing. What do you guys think I should do. I am new to this sport and I know I want a blaster. I am very mechanical and know some paint guys. Thanks for your help.

Great ending to a good story. I wanted everyone opinion and I thank you very much. I was sitting in the living room when the guy calls me and says they got to go he needs room he gave me both for $500.00. First The 1994 blaster I took a few pics in the back of the truck but it was gettign dark. The other parts ski is a 1993 Yamaha VXR Pro I am sure I will be parting out. There are a few parts missing but for the most part all there. Let me know what you think.

Awww man, it's a shame someone would let a Blaster get in that condition. Overall though, all it needs appears to be minor cosmetics. If I were you, I'd yank the motor out of the VXR (I think the Pro also has the 701 like the WB1) then get rid of the VXR hull. That way, you'd have spare parts for the WB1 if you happened to find some broken pieces as you did a tear down and restoration. Turf for the WB1 is a piece of cake, sand the paint off and rattle can it with black spray paint, buy a new set of UMI bars for it, yank the motor and do a full cleanup of the inside of the engine compartment, toss it all back together and put new plugs and a f/a on it, and viola! You'll have a sweet ski! Ride it for the summer and then toss a pipe on it over the winter, and you'll be having a good time with it in Daytona 09!!
