If you are racing, do you switch which foot leads when making right/left turns or use the same stance for both turns?
The old 550s handle entirely different than the newer skis. I normally ride right foot forward in "surf stance" and unless I switch my feet, making left hand turns on a sxr are almost impossible. Even riding a superjet set up for closed course racing is hard unless you switch your stance. I think it's more with the more aggressive Chines that require more leaning into the turn.
Who is this Jacobs guy you talk aboutHere's some dessert for thought. Jeff Jacob's winning a superjet 650 race in the boats first year...stance stays the same

Just easier to find these older video's. Which honestly, has better racing that what is going on now. The lines were full back then. Now? Not so much.Great thread, and I love the old race footage, but it also seems a little odd to me that for the most part people are talking about video and riders from 15-20 years ago rather than last year at Havasu.
not switching feet because he is body dragging the turns. Superjets cannot lay over enough to do this, SXR's you dont need to body drag.
Just some food for thought, at 6:10 is Todd Ross's slalom run. The announcer, larry rippenkroeger, comments on his odd style of switching his feet and that it's very tiring to do.
At 8:25 in the video is jeff Jacobs who doesnt switch stance and wins by over a second and half.
