What is the generally accepted weight of a reinforced sj hull or an aftermarket hull made for surf?

Flatwater hulls weigh 90-100 pounds right?

Aftermarket hull is in the 70-100lb range for the surf (non prepreg). A stock reinforced hull can weigh 120-150 w/ hood.

My stock hull - heavily reinforced front to back - weighs 120 lbs without anything, no pole or hood or hardware.

i dont think a 70 lb hull is going to last very long in the surf

Unless it's Sickerling's lightweight hull. I don't know if it's 70lbs or not though.

From what I hear (!) Sickerling's hull doesn't have as much as a little crack in it. He rides surf, and he rides big.

The XFT surf hull is only 72 pounds or so.

I was told 78-80.
My XFT Surf version hull has taken about 10-12 hard nose impacts doing big stabs at the beach in too shallow of water. No sign of damage or cracking yet. I also ride it in my local river rapids and have had some big rock hits on the bottom with no major damage. Seems like a tough hull.

right on.. best to hear advice and comments from people who actually RIDE in the surf...

IMO.. its all about your landings.. no matter how weak/thin our hull is.. if you dont 3/4 land it from 20' up.. it aint gonna crack/break.. barell rolls are alot harder on the hulls than BF's..

I DEFINITELY agree with that.

hey, look... its one of those comments that is supposed to be all sly and under the cuff. its like, people have to DO what there screen name is ALL the time! HAHAHAHA! that is SOOO original!
