FX-1 freshly built 701 won't pull fuel - looking for help please.

i'm at the lake, no bandwidth - cingular aircard - FX-1 freshly rebuilt 701 top end stock + carbon dual stage reeds. ran great for 2/3 of the 1st tank of gas...all of a sudden, seems like carb wont suck fuel. won't run off reserve, will run if i pump the newly installed primer. water/fuel seperator has been emptied. anyone offer suggestion on how i could trouble shoot - instead of taking it back to the guy who built it? i'd love to ride the weekend!
thanks,
Chris

If it ran fine for the first 2/3 of a tank, I'd suspect that the fuel pickup hose is too short.

Try running a line from a fuel bottle instead of your tank to eliminate any problems with tank pickups or clogged or damaged fuel lines ( fuel line with pin hole ). I've chased this problem down before to pieces of small debris being sucked up to or into the fuel on/off/reserve switch, took the swicth apart and cleaned out as well as removing the lines from the top of the tank and blowing back through them with compressed air. Problem was solved. Of course if fuel still does not pull from bottle, clean carb and check all diaphrams.

It pretty much has to be pulse line popped off or fuel pump I would think.

i'm new again to stand ups, 94 FX-1 this time, I thought all 2 strokes used "Crank seal suction" to pull gas. I did not think there was a fuel pump - or I would have replaced it when I was getting it rebuilt. Are you sure there is a fuel pump on a 2 stroke?

and what is a pulse line? how do i find it/trace it?

This sounds like a really good place to start, and pretty easy to eliminate too. Don't fill the tank past 1/2 though just in case you have to pull it later. If it's not low on fuel then try bottle feeding it, then start going into the carbs looking at filters first, then check the jets.

Thanks!!!

Thanks to all who took the time to read and respond. I blew out the fuel lines from the on/off/res switch backwards, then in spite of the fact that I used 3x larger zip ties to secure the lines back to the switch, the clear 1/4" ID lines leaked like crazy where they connect to the switch. I ended up using a large and a small zip tie over the bubble in the switch and it worked. thanks again for the suggestions!
