Get going at a decent speed, grab the front right handhold or left if easier. Switch right hand to grabbing throttle with your thumb.

Kick legs out to the left side of the boat and sorta rest your right hip on the top of the gunwhale. Plant feet in the water and stay on the gas.

Get balanced and you may have to slightly turn the bars to the right due to the drag.

Ride a ways and make sure its clear ahead, a lot of spray with come up. Also make sure its pretty calm water.

You can jump back into the tray but I find it hard. To finish, crank the bars to the left and release the throttle to unhook the pump. As the ski is spinning to the left lift your left leg over the nose of the ski and reach for the bars while also switch the right hand to the left hand grip. You should be laying on the hood backwards, slowing get on the gas and sit up straighter riding backwards on the hood. You can go from there but I sometimes do a 180 and them jump back into the tray spinning the same way as the 180 rotation.

Check out the enclosed pic. I added a small dog collar to the double air inlet holes on my Kawi hood. I put 3 fingers through the loop when doing this trick, also I grab it when spinning on the hood for backward hood riding.

I cut the buckle off of the collar, burned the cut end(s) to solidify the frayed end then overlapped and sewed the ends with fishing line (while through the holes), (quite strong, hadn't broke yet). A quick, good, cheap handle without cutting the hood and paying the high price of a preformed hand hold.
