Other Fuel delivery/selection advice for new Trinity hull.

Hello peeps,

Sorry for lack of build thread, but I have a couple questions for the masses regarding fuel supply setup.

SKI:
Trinity ES -2, PRO Hood
- internal fuel fill, stock carbs and fuel pickup.

GOALS:
- lightweight, super simple fuel delivery.
- eliminate OEM fuel selector
- keep reserve
- keep dash clean

QUESTIONS:

1. Can I run the 'RESERVE' and 'ON' with inline shut offs to a 'Y' and use the shut offs to select on from reserve?
2. Will the typical 'QUICK DISCONNECTS' seal sufficiently to simply swap fuel line if reserve needed?

Open to ideas.

Thanks!
John

You could use a Kawi Sx tank with its fuel selector on the tank, then you just turn the wheel on the pick up to desired source, no knob on the dash and still fully functional. Not sure on the fitment of the tank. Just an idea.

I had the same thoughts when I first built my ski. Ended up with dual clunks on the bottom of the tank and no selector. I have only run out of fuel twice in 3 seasons but both scenarios could have been avoided by filling up between surf sessions. I knew I was low on fuel both times and ran out just short of the landing.

I like the SX tank idea if you really want to keep the reserve option or you can get a fuel selector from any lawn tractor supply store and rig something inline. For that matter, you could also use the oem selector and just relocate it under the hood as well. The biggest problem with that scenario is that you have to lift your hood to get to it. Any significant wave action and that could be a bad situation.

A fuel selector prevents running dual tank pickups so usually when the mods start, the selector goes away anyways.

To run the shut offs in the engine compartment you would have to take the hood off to switch lines. Have you ever tried to take your hood off while on the water?

When I had a big tank I would notice the engine cutting out when the fuel was getting low while jumping. Running on plane let the pickups still get
the fuel it needed to get back to the launch. I ride on a lake, different story if you are miles away.

Now when I am on a jazz tank it just runs dry, I have to keep track of runtime on my watch.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the logistical difficulties with the lines. Since 2005, I have 'needed' reserve only a handful of times. I would be ok with pulling the hood off to switch lines. I use my reserve for emergency rather than a 'stop riding timer'.

Otherwise, would either the quick connect w/shut offs or inline shut offs work?

Anyone see potential problems short of having to remove the hood?

Thanks again!
John

Thanks guys for good info!

What would be my specific option for running dual pickups? The easiest solution would be to run a single carb feed, but just considering my other options.?
