Fuel Starvation Issues

Dudes , need your advice please. Just purchased a 04 SJ. Good compression and good spark , fuel seems to be the issue. I have stripped/cleaned/rebuilt both carbs , drained the tank/re filled and installed new fuel filter (correct way round). Now when turning over motor fuel filter is not getting any fuel... Any suggestions.. ? Thanks...

Fuel in at the bottom of carb from tank return line is the top you probably switched them on accident? can you suck gas through the line? Did you check your diaphragms?

I have no fuel flowing tru the lines , checked them , none are blocked . Sorry but how do i check to see if my tank is pressurized ... ?

Triple check that your fuel lines are routed correctly. Then pull the pulse line and verify it's not clogged. If not, put your finger on the nipple and turn over the engine. You should feel suction on your finger. If there is suction, then the problem has to be your fuel tank. Can't be the carbs because you're not seeing any fuel flow to begin with. Try dumping some gas down the carbs to get it started for a sec to see if the pressure builds up enough to get it flowing.

On some engines you can hold your hand over the carb inlet and it will help suck fuel in to prime it. As simonsays, you can also dump some fuel down to get it to fire for a sec to also help pump fuel in.

Regardless, it should be able to on its own so likely something is wrong.

As stated above, put your finger on the fuel inlet nipple on the carb to check if you feel a vacuum while turning over.

It doesn't sound like you rebuilt the carb . . . did you inspect all of the diaphragms well? My Kawi 650 was starving for fuel, when I opened it up the rubber diaphragm w/ metal dots had a tear around about 1/4 of the edge, and the diaphragm in the fuel pump had a small tear as well (had to buy those special safety star head driver bits to open up the fuel pump, who was the dippoop came up with the idea to put safety bolts on a serviceable part). When you can get a rebuilt kit for 20 bucks or so off ebay, unless you personally have actually torn the carb down fully and replaced all the seals, diaphragms, etc . . . I would start there so you can cross the carb and fuel pump off the list.
