One of my battery strap hooks rubbed halfway through my plastic tank. I want to repair it so I do not have any issues in the future. Can anyone recommend a product or process that works well and will hold up to gasoline?
The tanks are HDPE which is a polyolefin which has next to no surface energy and pretty much nothing will stick to it in a practical realm. Yourbest bet is to repair by thermal plastic welding, but at the rate some of the kits go for, getting a used tank might be cheaper. Hot knifing could possibly work but it will leave the tank thin in areas.
