Blaster Getting my first Blaster!!

I may be picking up a 96 Blaster in a week or so from a co-worker. I have to go look at it and am stoked. I just built my SN and it rips AZZ, but my shoulder is still messed up from something I did in the gym, ski, work or whatever so I may have to switch to the blaster permanently. I hear there is some differences in the 96 hull. I plan on running a UMI steering and that's about it.

The difference is unnoticeable when you ride the ski or when you put a tape to it. I don't doubt the hull was modified a bit for 96 but it was such a slight change that imo there is no need to worry about what year hull you have other than color. Chances are you have the dual carb engine and that however is something to write home about. Sooner or later you will want to put a pipe on it so pencil that into your long term plans. Personally I'd take your umi funds and get a riva redpipe or a coffmans sizzler for it instead.

I think your reasoning behind getting one is a little flawed though. There will be little change in fatigue on your shoulder between the two. If you ride aggressively they will both aggravate it. Getting on a blaster will also be harder on it, esp if you sidemount. If your plan is to just putz around I would argue you could do it on either. Definitely test ride it to see if this is the case if you haven't already been on one with your shoulder the way it is.

I rode a '93 blaster the first time the other day and was like I have to have one, and then all of a sudden this one pops up for a grand w/trailer, one owner. As far as my shoulder, the pain is between my left shoulder blade and my back, and when I pull, kinda like doing the seated row machine at the gym is very painful. I have been trying to adjust my riding style, but I can't putt around on either, I got to ride. Now I just take many breaks and carry a chair and ice chest in my Jeep, but blasters rock.

Hey Jesse, it's Chris with the Blaster you rode.............stoked to hear you're getting one. I'm in the process of rebuilding the carb now and replacing that funky bendix. Hopefully I can get this thing dialed.

I had the same shoulder pain a couple of years back from doing heavy shrugs at the gym..............sports chiropractor helped me out...that and some time off from the gym. There's a good one off of Alameda and Doddrige

Chris that blaster was a blast. The pain your describing is the one I have. Shoulder shrugs and seated rows is I think what did it. I'll have to check out that chiropractor. I'm still waiting for my VA screening too, maybe get free adjustments down the road.

This weather SUCKS!
