jett made it so if you wont to use a picture, you got to use the picture uploader.. and currently it does not allow .gif file types.. but it only takes a click to change that :poke:

Yes you can use a .gif in either your avatar or sig as long as it fits in the size/filesize limits.

That's right I forgot that I did that. :smile:

To put something big in your sig you need to have it on another web site and do an "img src=" link to it.

I did it because people were putting 700x350 animated .gif's that were 1mb or more in their sigs. It was out of control and way distracting while trying to read. It may be fine for the people that only hang out in Off Topic, but annoying when trying to read plus horrendous on an iphone/etc.

Never mind. The wise and power Jett has disabled html codes in sigs to make this wonderful place safer for us.

It might be good to point out for low bandwidth users that you can turn off sigs, avatars and other images under:
User CP -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options

The animated gif I was going to stick in my sig as an example is 8MB. :smile:
