Well, I think I have finally talked my girlfriend to sell the GP1300R that runs awesome and its fast as anyone needs to go on the water and maybe get a roundnose sj and do it up with pink and white with pink or white turf stickers the whole 9. After riding my SJ for about 10 mins she rode around and didn't fall at all and she turned and everything, jeesh I fell the first 10 minutes about 10 times lol. The only thing holding her back is that she is afraid of open water, I told her its not a big deal because you get used to falling and after a little while you don't even care you just swim and get back on. What do you guys think, I could prolly get 5k for the GPR and maybe get a 2500 RN down here and then do some work but keep it stock. Shes still tenative, but I told her the reason she gets bored out on the water is because shes riding that big damn thing. Any of you guy's girls ride stand up's?

I got my girl riding a few months back and she loves it. I gave her my old SJ and I build a new bada$$ one for myself. After a few rides I put her on my Bigbore 1040 seadoo and all she said was, "I want my Superjet back", the seadoo is boring.

4 rides out and she is in the surf with us guys, she's hanging back and playing but shes out there. All I hear on the way home is what she wants to try next time we go.

Need;ess to say, the Seadoo and the GP are both for sale.

P.S. She hates the SXR so much she won't even stand up on it when I force her to ride it.

If I had to guess, I would say she hates it because of the pole. they are freakishly heavy feeling, and I even notice it. I bet it sucks for a chick trying to ride around and hold that thing up.

The pole is neutral on my SXR, I have the Blowsion Spring. The problem is the steering and the unresponsiveness of the hull compared to the superjet.

Your g/f will like what she first learns on, unlike men who want to change everything all the time, the girls want their skis to be the same every time, (at first anyway). I made the mistake of starting mine out on a ski that was quite modified, including shortened pole, shortened steering and straight bars. I did these mods to make the ski respond and handle better so it stands to reason that going to a stock ski, even a stock superjet, is going to be a huge step back. As she gets better at riding she is now able to tell me more what she likes and dislikes about the ski and is now working with me to "tune" the ski for her.

She loves riding my 07 SJ and I have the full go-ahead to build her ski to match exactly, even the power of the ported 760. In every other sport you never really want to give the girls the big power but skis are so much easier to ride/learn with good power. I'm aiming for a nice smooth power curve on her ski so it's more predictable, so I might give her my 760 and upgrade to a bigbore 61X or X-Scream 825cc for myself.

The biggest thing is to be patient. My girl was quite timid at first so I booked a few weekends off from the surf and took her to quiet spots on a local lake where we could ride in unmolested waters and build her confidence. I'd give her tips and talk to her about rider position but basically I just let her go and do her thing. Two weekends on a lake and she had no problems coming in the surf with us. She hangs back where the water is calmer the same way I did when I was learning but she is out there loving it, in fact, just try and tell her that she has to stay behind. :)

My fiance rides my 650 SN and loves it. It has 180psi comp, impeller, grate and coffman's pipe. She tried a stand up on our second date and the rest is history. :)

She tried an SXR again last time out, and said her back hurt after riding it (from the heavy pole). The SN has a spring and tightened bolt, making it completely neutral.

I don't know if this is a girl thing (it could be), but it is also me to a tee. I have to feel a need for it before I want to add it to my ski. Hubby knows, when I am ready for more power or some new handling mod, I will ask for it. He has stopped trying to push new mods on me before I am ready for them.

I think not wanting more power is counter-intuitive to him, but he understands how I operate now. hehe

My wife and I have been riding stand-ups together since 1989. When we started out she was much better at it than me. We had a pair of kawi 550's.

My wife has never hinted that she wanted to ride a couch.

Back in late 2003 we got tired of working on the kawi's all week only to have them crap out in the first hour of riding. So we took the dive and bought 2 brand new 2004 sj's. Best investment ever!

Riding jet ski's is one of the few things we actually do together (and both enjoy) so I look at it as an investment in the relationship!

Mine has finally showed interest in the standups. The last few times out she actually hopped on and rode around in the cove. Like others, first time up she was turning and everything. :Banane09: It was going great till she pulled the trottle a little more and the power band hit. The ski ripped out of her arms and now she is timid again. Why oh why did I forget to detune the pipe before she got on . Hopefully she will want to try again. I am just being patient.

I got mine to ride with boyer's gal for the first time. She was always "i dont want to try it" i like my sit down. finally her watching another girl ride sparked enough for her to want to try. She tried, stood up the first time! wasnt paying to much attention to the sand bar she often was riding on but she made it safely and wants me to build her a black and pink boat. and "its gotta have footholds" lol
