so what if instead of more CC's you were to redesign the intake on the hull.

So the backflip hulls have the pump and intake set as far back as possible. what if you where to take the intake duct widen it into kind of a bell shape and move if forward. Like all the way to the bulk head. But keep it the current length. the water would have to go through a pump sized tube for like 12 inches or so.

This way you would launch and you would have like a 12'' cylinder of water that would still have to get processed by the pump. meanwhile the pump intake is out of the water. So your jet of water is still pushing you up.


has this been done?

am i just reinventing the wheel?

You'd lose pump supply earlier with the intake being pushed forward. It would leave the water more quickly during your rotation therefore lose water supply more quickly as well.

I had another idea along the same line, but haven't built anything to try out yet. Instead of extending the intake forward, extend it down at a slight forward angle. This could be done in the actual hull design or by making an intake grate that would completely seal to the hull. The extension would be teardrop shaped to keep forward drag to a minimum, and the length could be adjustable per application. It would almost be like turning your ski into a water vacuum. Not sure if it would cause a lag reloading with water upon landing, but the only downside may be getting hit by or falling on this intake tube... ????? Oh, yeah, don't look too closely at the mold in my avatar, it may have an extended inlet...:noevil:

For a only freestyle ski... You can go wider then keel.... But when you get crazy wide it tends to cavitate when you lay ski over in a turn and things like that

Are you suggesting something similar to a hood scoop for the bottom of the ski?

Haha Swap! Not talking about an upside-down hood scoop at all. Maybe along the lines of a q*bert type snorkel if his nose was more of a diamond cutter shape.
