I have blown the straps off two helmets in the last three years. They rust out from the salt where they mount to the helmet.

Anyone know the weight of this thing? Good find by the way! And yes, I agree....not many people read the good deal thread:dunno:

Find a stainless alternative.

After checking a few bike shops this week I'm tempted to design my own setup for the straps. I keep burning through 60-100 dollar helmets every two years. But I also wear out life jackets and wrestling shoes in that time as well.

Might have more to do with hours on my equipment than salt?

the checkout process was being kinda screwy with me though .... kept looping me back to the start of the shopping cart after I had entered in all of my info, made me do it 3 times but didn't get confirmation for 3 orders thank god lol

I run this helmet and it's very light and comfortable. The quality of the hardware doesn't hold up to salt for very long though. I haven't broken anything or had any issues yet but the rust is visual even after rinsing with fresh water after every ride. I'd still buy it again though

Not a bad thing if you ask me. Helmets are wearable items, they need to be replaced regularly. The foam breaks down and doesn't do the job as well after a certain amount of time. Especially jet ski people...constant water/salt exposure, not to mention sun, etc.

I have the Giro helmet and crusted the month guard, broke my nose. But it did the job. I always buy new gear (helmet, gloves, shoe) at the end of the season, always cheaper prices on Amazon or sites like that.

I am going on season 5 with my Giro Remedy. When the strap hardware rusted and fell apart, I punched a set of brass grommets in and bolted them back in with stainless hardware. It shortens them up by a couple inches but there's plenty of strap left to accommodate.

The rest of the helmet is in perfect shape, I just keep having the straps rip out where they are fastened near the ear holes.

My two new ones showed up today. They look great. Can't beat two helmets to my door for 90 shipped.

used to have an this helmet GMAX GM76X Helmets G3761206 TC1 from when i used to ride dirt bikes. switched to skis cause water seemed to hurt less. Loved the helmet it is super light but then some jackass decided he wanted everything in my truck and stole the bag it was in. At least he left my life-jacket
