its hard to promote this stuff. I have been trying for almost 2 years now. I have one guy who has jumped in. I have a few people that are starting to consider it but man its hard to get em to take to the idea. at least it has been for me.

We all know the problem, it's impossible for people to comprehend what we're doing when we tell people 'I ride a jetski'. Always get responses like "Oh, really, what year seadoo do you have?" or "how fast does it go?" Average Joe does not even know standups are still being made!
I like moto-surfer, but even that is not really descriptive enough.
My non-riding friends think it's cool, but are turned off by how much I work on the skis. :scared:

Did you check the post I made? No words required, just some of Ronny's awesome photography plus some other stuff and link to the Daytona video. Just the pictures alone will help.

I know, the pics really drive it home, but I was talking about regular conversation. Not where you can break out pics and vids to show people what it's about. Telling somebody verbally how great our sport is & exactly what we do is not the easiest.
I saw that none of those car audio guys even acknowledged your jetski related post. That's sad. :aargh4:

Yeah, I noticed that too.

One thing I've learned from posting there is most of them are late teens/early 20's, broke, drive crappy $500 cars with $2000 stereos in them all financed on credit. So, a jetski that costs money to operate is not in their future typically.

Hey, video iPod!!!! That's easy to show people.

Yes, it sounds great for $450 or whatever I spent. My wife can hear me coming down the street so she has time to get the boyfriend out!

Thats awesome!
Linking photos and video's to other intrests is key to growth. People just have to see it. We tend to stay in our own little world, and forget to find ways to let others see what ski's are doing today. All they see is a lame seedoo add with a sitdown riding once in a while.
Well done Darin!

as a salesman at a yamaha shop i thought i'd be pushin SJs out the door! but so far all the feedback i get from customers, including young athletic types, are surprise and shock that they still exist. i've been selling VX110s to athletic college kids even though i tell them they'd prob like an sj WAY more. they just don't wanna hear it!

plus it doesn't help that the price of the sj is pretty darn high. it's hard to justify them buying a stand up when they can buy a 3 seater 4 stroke for only $800 more. they think they're getting more for their money.

anyone have a VHS tape of freestyle events they wouldn't mind sendin me a copy of? i'd like to bring somethin in to show potential customers what the SJ is capable of, but we only have VCRs in the shop. it could help out the future of our sport!

That is a great idea. I know when my bro when to buy from a dealer the salesman was pushing the biggest/fastest sitdowns. I was looking (just looking) at the new SJ and no one wanted to help me.It's great to see you tell people about the SJ's.
