Is it the salt water or what? Seems like the moment a guy completes his first set of bottom turns and top turns the hating creeps in.... just saying....

Relax bro...you don't know these guys. They are OLD SCHOOLERS and know their :):):):). Most have been riding 12-20 years and morphed surfing into standups back when the first waves were being riddin on a standup. Show a lil respect. Most of these guys started this stuff. Yes, some of it comes across harsh on the internet.....but let it go. They are trying to keep surfriding alive....and they should.

Most of the Old Legends stopped posting on here years ago...but still ride ALL the time. I couldn't believe I ran into Randy Laine on my last Oside trip going for a solo rip in the surf at 7am. Cool cool guy.

Anyways, hit up these guys and go ride with them if your ever in SoCal...I did. I promise, you'll have a blast and never want to leave.

Broseph, I could care less who rides what or who's who, just seems like every single surf threads got some hater hating on someone elses riding.... kinda lame if u ask me. Even on zacks thread and dude rides the surf pretty damn good....

and the "haters" you are reffering to on zacks post were his close friends heckling him.

dj is right by saying that its mostly the old timers (who i respect and envy) who are giving the young guns poop for riding around in circles with your feet stuck in your footholds waiting for the next wave. surfriding is similar to surfing in that its more of a smooth gracefull riding style that requires ALOT of skill and YEARS of practice, anyone can go go out and straight huck it...

So what's wrong with a little progression? You think anybody wants to watch surf riding at the x games? Freestyle could take our sport to the next level.... not saying we'll ever be main stream but we gotta progress right? Its awesome that the old timers are great riders and they brought us to where we are today... But that shouldn't be a free ticket to HATE!

idling around kicking your feet into the footwells in between barhumps is not progression...

mix this with some big jumps and you might have something

this is 1990 btw...

watkins putting that 550 on rail dosnt really get any better...

If you want to see/feel some hating IN the surf, go ride near a group of surfers!

Can we get some flatwater hate going in this thread now? :mischievous:

our sport was mainsteam, 20 years ago. just be happy that the ppl in the industry continue to make new products with little to no profit. this is just a classic case of B.O.B syndrome.

there is very few places where you can surfride and thoes still doing it have been respectful to their communitys keeping it alive for the new generation. so if you think that because you can do a backflip in the surf your progressing our sport think again because guys were doing that 15+ years ago on stock skis. flatwater freestyle has created this image that you need to spend all this money on special equpment to do cool stuff but in reality all you need is to ride the surf and grow some balls. stock SN is more then sufficent in the surf.

I really like seeing the guys who are surfing the wave making turns then bottom turn and do flips and rolls. That is a bit of a progression instead of just seeing them wait for waves or surf ride. I surfed for a few yrs when I lived at the beach. But never got great waves so couldn't get any good at it. Love being on my ski and you can just get to any wave you want. Doesn't have to be a perfect day and still can get little sections to surf. It is getting more to where we all need to stick together to keep being able to ride our skis in the surf alive.

When u say bob syndrome I hope u mean how every time a bob is brought up you guys swoop in and start talking trash so we defend ourselves. Its so obvious around here if your not swinging on the freaks nutz your "out". That goes for "surf riding" as well. Haters gonna hate I guess. Get over your selves guys!

Great riding in that video! Smooth and stylish. Much like freestyle MX which is now a backflip contest, freestyle JetSki is too much of the same tricks. The balls and skill are off the hook but kinda boring to watch. I'll take a sick whip or a monster nose stab any day. Either way progression is inevitable.

just because you can do a flip off a wave doesnt mean you can surfride at all. that what your so called "haters" are trying to get across. surfriding takes time and practice and dedication to master. curtis (ridthelip) or andrew (wydeopen) are some of the best surf riders ever. all they do is surf the wave just like they are on a surfboard. there whole point is if you go out in the surf your first time and huck a flip, good for you but you are not a surf rider. and you dont need aftermarket hulls and big motors to surfride.

If you have the money why not go aftermarket...would you rather drive down the road in an 85 Toyota Trecel or a 68 camero with a twin turbo 572?

That's all fine and dandy but its not the freestyle guys hucking flips than saying nananana that's not surfriding. Its the surfriders doing all the hating... hence my post. Why can't guys enjoy waves however they want?

have you ever seen an aftermarket hull turn like that 550 in the vid i posted??

...didnt think so

haha actually a tercel prob handles the twisties better than a camaro so it was prob a good comparison..

goes good in a strait line but thats about it...

Not speaking for my self , but most of the surf guys I ride with can do it all . I am progressing a little each ride . What someone considers "kosher riding" really makes no sense to me . Ski + water = fun no matter how your doing it .
