Can someone please help me identify if this is a yamaha 701, or Kawasaki 750 head pipe

Thanks in advance,

Carlo

From what I know headpipes are same for Yamaha and Kawi, just different manifolds and expansion chambers. But this one looks like older style Kawi two screw pipe

Thanks for the help. I sold a complete Limited setup for an SXi and I think I sent the wrong Headpipe. I'm trying to find out if it is okay, and if you can run them on either without any drawbacks.

I run a headpipe with no "B" stamp in my Fx1 with a Yamaha manifold and have no issues. The chamber mates up nearly perfect and I have at least an inch clearance over my motor mount. I too have wandered what headpipe I have. I got it out of an old 650 SJ I bought so I thought it was just an ancestor to the B.

I have a 2 screw head pipe that I used with a 62T manifold and various chambers. Fits fine, works well.

FWIW, when I talked to a FP tech (not rude sales chick) about it, he said the early head pipes had only 2 screws and weren't necessarily designated Kawi or Yamaha, they were intended to be universal and fit both- but Kawi was the model. Not sure this was luck, intent or BS

FP suggested plugging the open hole as it allowed too much water for most people's preference. Hence the 3rd screw evolution.

I noticed that the two pipes had slightly different angles. I would like to know if that Yami B Pipe is going to fit the Kawi 750?

the flange where it bolts to the manifold are different thickness on the two. the kawi is thicker and takes longer bolts. it will work on the yamaha manifold but since it is thicker, it doesnt fit in the center of the notched out area on the exhaust manifold and makes for less coupler clearance. most yami head pipes are stamped B-pipe but the old 650 factory pipes werent stamped with a B and may have been the same as the kawi headpipe. the yami head pipe will definatly fit your kawi 750

+1 kawa is thicker than yam , and the angle are little different

It will bolt up but not so sure if it will fit. The rotation of the bolts are different. I tried to use a kawi b pipe on a Yamaha motor (in a 750sx). And the head pipe was angled with the coupler on the side of the hull.

there are 2 different kawi 750 factory pipe exh manifolds. one for the limited pipe and one for the mod pipe. they no longer produce the mod pipes. i have the sxr wet pipe head pipe on a RN SJ right now and it does and did fit with no modification.

Did the headpipe you ran in SJ look like the one I have in the pics?

the only visual difference is the thickness where it bolts to the mani. the pic looks like the thin yami one but i cant be sure. thickness on the yami 21mm , kawi 28mm. the color of the powder coating is also different. its darker on the kawi and more silver on the yami.
