Help me out...MSD issue I think.

So my ski for the last couple weekends will run perfectly fine, and then all of a sudden get a terrible miss. I'm running an MSD TL. At first I thought it was a plug wire issue, as one tore in my hands. So I replaced them. It's extremely sporadic and typically happens more in a chop. This made me think a ground, I checked them, they are all good. I went ahead and replaced the coil since I had a spare. Still didn't solve the issue. The issue generally happens around the end of the first tank or when the ski gets warm.

So, symptoms, ski misses extremely hard, but then takes off like nothing happened. Other times it will miss so bad it shuts completely off. It's not only at high RPM's, but obviously much more noticeable. I've tried to check all the wiring and connections, and I've not found a thing.

Any help is appreciated.

i had my kill switch connector full of green crap and had the same symptoms.. you also said it was at the end of you tank does that mean when you click it to reserve?
 
I don't have reserve. But it's not sucking up air, it will do it on the second tank when it's full as well. I really feel like it's somewhat heat related. I had the box open yesterday and all of my connections are perfectly clean. The unit is in a sealed aluminum box and to my knowledge has never seen a drop of moisture.

I thought about the start/stop switch thing as well. I have a spare one I can try, but it seems more severe than just turning off. Backfiring, etc.

Did you pull the flywheel cover and make sure your stator plate hadn't moved (backfire) or that the airgap is changed due to a loose pickup? To be an intermittent thing like that and still have good performance when it hits sounds like a wiring problem somewhere not the actual brain. Good luck. I hate TL.

A flywheel that's not torqued to spec can cause trouble as well...I had that problem on my last TL. Had super bad timing issues out of the blue and was from flywheel slipping about 1/8". Backfired and hard to start for me.
