(Help!!!!!) SXR 800 electrical problems

Regards,
My SXR only start when I put the ground cable directly to the electrical box. I think is the stator. need heeeelp!!!!!...

I put the multimeter directly to the ground of the electrical box and it measures 11.7 VOLTAGE and when I push the start switch the multimeter measures 0.001 VOLTAGE.

(I can run the sxr with the ground directly to the electrical box?, If I do that the engine would not get damage or another electrical piece?)

Maybe I'll get it all the way around NEXT time....

It it's ok to ground your electrical box. You do have some underlying issue though...

check the black ground wire from the stator, mine had a sometimes open sometimes closed mystery that I found right at the conector 90 at the electrical box. Easy thing to do is to put a ground wire to the box.

I had the same issue and i ran a ground from the battery to the electrical box worked fine for about 3 weeks and now it is not charging again. Does the ground come from the stator or???? Any suggestions??

If its a 2004 or newer I chased an electrical issue to the plug for the cdi Igniter inside the ebox . There are several tiny little prongs that corrode and break off causing electrical problems that can be intermittent annoying and hard to diagnose . Somewhat common from saltwater use

My x2 had a problem with the 2 plugs from the stator, 7 wires total, the black plug ground pin connector was making poor contact. I was able to play with it and get it working without anything crazy needed. The only real option when the plug fails is to replace it with bullet connectors. Cant find oem replacements. Not an issue as lomg as you dont need to switch components.

The 2004+ on an SXR is different. The tiny and i mean small prongs corrode inside the igniter (cdi) and if you gently wiggle them mine just broke off then your only option at this point is a new igniter (cdi) thingy. Oem is over 500$ I put one i found on ebay from Belgium 180$+ in took a couple of weeks to get it and it seems to run just as well as oem just fill with silicone grease before you plug together . I have had the pickups loosen and break off under flywheel cover, electrical problems are hard to find sometimes just a couple of my experiences Good Luck Happy Hunting
