Other HELP - UMI Bar Removal from Blaster1

Have some UMI Bars on a Blaster and have no idea how to get them off. I have removed all screws from the top stem and thought they would simply slide apart. I have tried (although not that hard) to loosen the bottom nut but am afraid that it is pressed and should not be removed.

I have not applied heat to top - I want to see if anyone knows definitively how to remove this UMI bar set-up before I start heating or really torque it.

it's not pressed...

remove the 4 bolts holding the brackets into the hood, slide the two pieces apart, and it'll come right out...

Unfortunately, when I remove the 4 bolts - it's not budging. Next step is to apply heat.

Anyone know where the best place for me to heat up in order to get the two pieces apart??

Thanks again everyone!!

I had the same problem with a raider UMI, ended up pressing off the bottom bar bracket off the stem, with series off diff spacers and nuts and bolts as a press. still have the steerring stem seized in the housing. gotta get that out and replace the bearings. my UMI was neglected and had decent amount of corrossion, but heat and a improvized press may help ya

yeah man, don't know what to tell you... mine practically falls off once I remove those 4 bolts holding the L bracket, and once I remove the nut from the bottom of the stem.

"yeah man, don't know what to tell you... mine practically falls off once I remove those 4 bolts holding the L bracket, and once I remove the nut from the bottom of the stem. "

Is that bottom bolt (below the L bracket) clockwise or counter??

Thx again everyone!!
