Help with Flywheel Bolt

Hey guys,

I need help with removing this flywheel bolt so that I can pull the flywheel and bendix. Bendix and starter needs replacement. The picture is before I wire brushed it and heated it up with a torch.

I mean is this a right handed thread or left?

Appreciate any help.

Impact gun takes them right out. Hard part us going to be pulling the flywheel! Heat heat and more heat, followed by a nice hard wack with a hammer and she should pop off.

Most of the time it seems like the nasty, crusty ones are the ones that pop right off, and the mint ones fight you!

If you don't have an impact, you can use a rope down the cylinder and a breaker bar. As mentioned though, a solid smack with a BFH on the end of the puller can jar it loose if you run out of power with an impact.

Definitely get a flywheel lock from Cold-Fusion, like stefan said. Makes all steps way easier on you and your engine. Don't use the rope method if at all possible. No offense to any that use it, or recommend it. I've done it, and it works. But for the small amount spent on the CF flywheel lock, it's a safe and reliable tool.
