Hey surfriders- what pitch impellar are you running?

I just got my pump completely rebuilt from Skat Trak and they re-pitched the impeller to 10/18. It doesn't seem to hook up on the bottom as well as before (I don't remember what it was before) The impellar seems to “spin” in the whitewater which is exactly what the Skat Trak pump is suppose to eliminate. Is it possible to run a pitch which is to low? My motor is pretty much stock with a factory B pipe. What pitch are you guys running?

9/15 Hooker from Impros with a 701 with B-pipe, head and other bolt on mods.
10/16 Hooker with a Freestyle ported 760 with a B-pipe, head, etc, etc.

I have also run a Solas 14.5/18.5 that hooked up pretty good but not nearly as well as the hookers.

Solas 13/17..... what you have in there is way too low...wait dont u have a mag pump?

Yeah I'm talking about my Mag pump. With the 10/18 it slips like a stock pump. Just wondering if the super low pitch is doing that. Is your set up stock w/b pipe and the 13/17 impellar?

I am currently running a Solas 14.5/18.5 on a 650 with a protec f-series pipe. Am I running too much prop? The boat just feels like a pig... any input?

Yes. I'm running an old 13/16 skat in my 650 and it works pretty good. Most of the pig feeling is probably because it's a 650 though.

What size Mag Pump? 140, 144, or 148?

I run a 15/20 in a 140 Mag with a Team Scream 5mm 828 motor. It pulls good, but Pat Bogart recommended going to a 14/18 I think.

well i have a ported 701 with a bpipe, its got allot more power than stock thats for sure im going to try a 14/18 and see how that goes.. but it worked just as good with a stock motor..i perfer more mid than bottom end...i dont just cruise around slow blipping the throttle..i like to keep the rpms up and go fast all the time

I was running a 13/18 swirl in my 144mm mag w/1" setback pump. It was a drag trying to dial in the low speed carb jetting, never seemed to get it right...a tad "over propped". I reduced the pitch down to a 12/17 swirl and taper bored a max-flow blaster nozzle to 84mm and that made a major difference. Killer bottom end and no loss up top.

Are you running a shorter cone and or a bored nozzle with that low pitch?

Yeah its a 144mm /1" setback, I'll try Toms 12/17 and see if that fixes the problem. I'm running a shorter cone but the nozel is stock. I hope I can get it dialed in, I love my mag pump. I'll try a 9/15 Hooker on my other "Stock Pump" Thanks

I had a similar problem when my pump seal "packing" was not sealing. Loosen the pump and try to push it foreward for a better seal.

id try losing the shorty cone first and see what that does, before changing out props.you should change your title to what pitch mag prop also, they dont even compare to stock pumps, very few riders here use mag pumps. I would think any c75 prop in a mag would hook killer in the wash, run the standard cone first.check your seal as mentioned above, silicone it pretty heavy on both sides when you install it to be safe.
