I'm new to forum and after a six year hiatus, I'm back to riding standups. I quit riding when I nearly drown my Superjet, and then didn't get back into it because of a shoulder injury and just being generally too out of shape.

I ride an 03 Superjet, a 1991 Superjet, and JS 550.

My two older skis haven't been on the water since 2006, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me before I put them in the water. I'm planning on buying new batteries, getting the skis registered, draining the fuel, cleaning out the fuel tanks, rebuilding the carbs, and cleaning out all the fuel and water lines.

Thanks, and "hello."

Welcome back! Sounds like your plan is pretty solid on making the skis water ready. If you haven't started them since then, it might be a good idea to spray a little fogging oil or similar into the plug holes and manually turning the crank. I'm sure its fine but might be a little easier than just firing it off.

agreed, those cylinders are dried out, dry lines wont lube everything up very fast with fuel/oil ratio. so turn it over by hand like swapmeet said. mix 50:1 the first tank then either stay at 50:1 or go to 40:1. i run 40:1, but it almost comes down to just a personal preferance.

You're on the right track. Fresh fuel, lines, carb clean, and spark plugs.
Some fogging oil or pre-mix down the cylinders for a pre-lube before firing is about all you can do short of running a pressure test on each engine to test crank seals and gaskets.

After that, it's either going to stay together and run, or come apart. Hopefully the engine's were fogged well before going into storage to avoid any damage cause by surface rust or corrosion inside.

ProSouth: Why are you suggesting to mix at 50:1 on the first tank as opposed to a little fatter mixture for some extra oil on the first tank?

Had that backwards, you're right schmidty. I was being a retard. Running more oil at the first tank was what I was getting at.
