Anybody made their own ride plate out of just spare aluminum at their house or somethin? I would like to see if it works. This possible?

Man I've been riding hard for about 4 years now and I haven't even seen a broken ride plate from any of my friends. From a materials stand point, aluminum is more capable of withstanding impacts that composites and let's be totally honest....you aren't going to break a metal ride plate by hitting water.

To the OP...a friend in Atlanta is looking to make a mold of his ride plate. It's not difficult.

i like the idea of corrugated ,built in chines .jk.. if i were good with fiberglass it doesn't sound to hard.but i would really rather go to work and purchase one from someone who does this for a living or go used ,than go thru the learning curve..just saying..oh and broken plates are you kidding me???

I forgot!
i have shattered stock plates from water impacts, usually from landings in away that pulls the plate off the bottom of the hull. once i made a composite one that is about 1/4" thick, no problems. I have seen lots of people break the stockers and other cast plates.

here is a $$$$ plate that got smoke on impact with water, you see you gotta go big to wreck stuff and then you will understand why and how they can break.
