How difficult is it to remove the steering cable on a 95 750 SXi?

Guys,

How hard is it to change out the steering cable on my 1995 750 SXi??

It looks like you have to remove the Ride Plate, adn then take it off from the back, and pull it all the way out of the pole.

Is that correct??

disconnect from the steer nozzle and thru hull fitting by the pump.
disconnect from steering and handlepole.
pull out thru the engine compartment or up through the pole.

fishing it back through will be fun but doable

Hmm,....so nothing in the engine compartment has to come out??

I suppose I could tie a string to the end of the cable when I remove it, and then tie the string to the new one so I can pull the new one back through.
