Other How do I replace the brass pump bolt inserts?

I am considering pulling the old pump bolt inserts and replacing them while I'm painting the ski. How do I get the old ones out?

yeah why? you could do it by drilling a guide hole through the hull via the middle of the insert and using it to use a hole saw to remove the top deck area above them. are they even visible with out turf on the ski? sj or sxr?

I would wait till you refoam if you really want to do it, and leave them alone otherwise (unless you have a specific problem).

Suppose you have a stripped thread(s), rideplate or pump, and the ski is all turfed. What WOULD be the best way of doing this?

use a 3/8-16 heli coil. thats how i did mine. there was no oversizing of the threads to weaken the brass. it worked very well and i will do the next one the same. or you can look at my build thread and see the open tray and then you have a good idea of the location if you decide to cut a hole and remove it all the way.
