How easy is an EZ throw trim system?? Want to modify the C.A.T.S. I have...

Looking at all the trim systems with pulleys, how much easier are they to pull??

My X2 set up sucks, I have to completely let off the gas then wait for a sec then pull the trim lever then the throttle ...kinda annoying when trying to setup for stuff.

As I'm saving up for a new trim system I think I am going to modify mine a bit and try out a pulley...

something like this...

What you guys think? and anyone know where I can get a pulley that would work? Also, any ideas on how to keep the cable on the pulley?

You have to let off the throttle to get the trim to pull. Another thing depends on the speed you are going when you let off. If you are going 20 mph you still have water flowing through the pump which is what makes it so hard to pull. I have the x-metal set up and I even called them to ask and they said the same thing. Another thing you could do is do a bunny hop right before you do your trick and pull the lever when your pump is out of the water...haven't tried that yet because I just thought about it today. I will be trying it the next time I ride though.

I asked other people about the pulley system as well and they said it was actually harder to pull...go figure.

The only easy throw trim system is the N2 powered compressed air setup.

That roller would just change the amount of cable pull depending the diameter.

It will be 1/2 the pull for any diameter that doesn't actually interfere with the mounting bracket.

The actual cable pull amount will vary because the diameter of the roller changes the fulcrum lever height on the trim bracket.

I prefer to just use the Avid speed dial levers with the adjustable cantilever inside with a swivel cable mount end.
Link?

I'm working on one for my own ski right now. :sneaky:

I see what you mean. The cable pull will be 1/2 regardless: 2:1 ratio = half pull. But the nozzle deflection depends on the fulcrum point, so the deflection indeed depends on the roller diameter and will always be less than half the original pull (except for an infinitely small roller!)

I tried this on a CATS system I had on a FX1. My biggest issue was the cable coming off the pulley constantly. I could've probably adjusted it out but ended up ditching the idea all together.
