Blaster How far can I go?

Location

Taking my '93 B1 to Ponce Inlet tomorrow with some buddies. Dont think we'll be leaving early enough to hit the close ramp. My buddy said the ramp is 7 miles from the inlet (14 mile round trip).

Do you think I can make a round trip on a single tank? Ski is sorta stock. Riva Red Pipe, Riva waterbox with 44mm single carb 62E motor.

I am bringing extra oil in case I have to stop at the marina and fill up. Just curious to know if anyone knows how far these things will go on 7 gallons of fuel.

I ride that trip every time we go out. Take the cap off the tank were the lines go in so you can fill it to the very top no air bubble at the top of the tank. I can play in big boat wakes all the way out ride the surf for about 2 hrs max and play all the way back and I have just enuff left. The very end of the ride back I cant play hard because I start sucking air bad I have like a half gal left. Ive got a 61x, B-pipe, 175 psi comp, single carb.
Hit me up when yall go out id love to ride with some new ppl I try to ride every week.

we may head out there this weekend. Not positive. Ive only been in the surf once and I still pretty much suck at riding my B1. I got another buddy who has a bone stock B1 he wants to bring out there as well. Ill let you know if we head out this saturday.

Just strap a small 1 or 2gal gas can to the love handles and stash it in a secluded spot.. Hell I've even used a 2 litre coke bottle as my get home fuel... just make sure you crack the cap a bit when you stash it to vent off pressure

I had brought up this subject on the other forum. Basically, here are the book specs for a DUAL carb Blaster ('96)...

44mph
7.7gph @ WOT
6.6gal tank capacity
.86 hours run time at WOT
38 mile range at WOT

Now, the minute you add a pipe to a ski you're gonna burn more gas (aftermarket pipes produce more power by clearing the cylinder "charge" better and getting more air/fuel mixture in, which usually results in more unburnt fuel heading out the exhaust due to the scavenging necessary to insure the most fresh "charge" in the cylinder on each stroke. Yeah there's more to it than that but that's the simple version). But a single carb is gonna burn a lot less gas than a dual. So I'd say 30 miles on a piped single carb should be easy, especially at, say, 75% throttle or less.

My own measured experience is this...'94 Blaster, single carb, Riva Red Pipe and aftermarket FA, all else stock. Riding at 60% - 75% throttle, we routinely take a run for lunch that is 12 miles away. I've topped off several times after riding one way, and it's right at about 1.5 gallons every time. The ski is bobbing in the water so maybe I'm not getting quite "topped off", so to be conservative let's say it would take 2 gallons to top off. Based on a 6.6 gallon tank, this would suggest I could go just about 40 miles on a tank. I'm a big chicken so I would plan about 30 miles max and all would be good.

in my experience 30 miles is the max i get on a single tank open Ocean; but i like 100% throttle to much so... i like to carry a 2 liter bottle w/ gas as a second reserve.
