I am looking into reinforcing my sj hull and was thinking of using carbon fiber because it is lighter but not sure on how much is needed. This post http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/50756-Carbon-Reinforcing says you can use 1 layer of 5.7 oz 2x2 twill. Another post http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/122426-Carbon-reinforcement says to use 2 layers of 11oz 2x2 twill. My other question would 1 layer of 1708 Biaxial be just as good then use black die for the looks?

I just used a single layer of 1708 on each side. It's some thick stuff. I've seen some do an extra smaller layer of 1708 over the bond line, but at that point you're adding quite a bit of extra weight

17 oz is hard to wet out make sure u completely wet it out so it actually helps
