SXR How much prep work to paint over cracked gel coat?

Just curious, I'm not a painter, but can/will an epoxy primer self level cracking gel coat?

Do I need to lightly sand each crack, or sand the gel coat all the way off?

You need to sand until the crack is gone. After the crack is sanded you can use a filler and then sand smooth again. If you try to paint or fill a crack it will come back.

Figured as much, was just hoping for the other answer....lol.

Guess I need to get to sanding.
