1. cut to desired length (normally 1-2", i'm at 3.5")

2. chisel/clean/sand residual pole from lower bracket down to bare metal

3. rough up first inch of pole bottom

4. install rivet backing plates

5. epoxy/jbweld/whatever pole bracket

6. drill and rivet (before glue sets)

i used 5200, it failed, i used JB weld, failed, etc etc... factory bond seems strongest... either that or i'm just getting harder and harder on mine (thus 3.5"). need to get limit rope. oh well.

Cut with a chop saw works best so it's nice and clean and straight .

Actually you'll need a 12 inch radial chop saw to do this .

I used stainless bolts instaed of rivets too ,rivets get loose over time .
Use epoxy around pole when you insert it into the bracket again .

Making sure it is straight in the bracket is the most important part .
Sand inside the bracket and around the pole real well to make it slide on real easy .
