WATERTOP HYDRODRAG FALL NATIONAL ADDS FISH BOWL FREESTYLE TO SPACE COAST EVENT

Melbourne, FL – October 1, 2009 – WaterTop Unlimited’s third and final event of the 2009 RIVA Racing HydroDrag Series personal watercraft speed and drag race event expects to see the fastest racing to date with return to the Florida's Space Coast. The APBA sanctioned HydroDrag Fall National will take place November 7-8 at the legendary C-54 canal near Palm Bay, FL. Racers from all over the Western Hemisphere will converge on Central Florida in what has become the world’s showcase for the fastest PWCs.

The Fall HydroDrag event looks to give a full weekend of excitement, entertainment, and fun with drag race and Speed Alley events plus the addition of the Space Coast Fish Bowl Freestyle show with some of the best professional PWC freestyle riders in the country invited to ride for fans and a $1000 cash purse. Event headquarters will also be moving from Sebastian to the Comfort Suites in Palm Bay to offer fans and racers more conveniences and nighttime fun.

“We are excited about some of the changes we are implementing in the RIVA Racing HydroDrag Fall National as we want to make this more of a full weekend of fun for all the locals and people travelling from afar.” said WaterTop GM and event promoter Tim McKercher. “The HydroDrags is a true spectacle with speeds of 100 mph being reached and moving the event base to Palm Bay, FL next to I-95 makes everything easier for the racers and should allow the local community to get more involved in the fun and excitement and the NEW Fish Bowl Freestyle show Saturday night.”

The HydroDrag Fall National will feature the innovative “Launch Pad” starting system; a stationary, floating double drop bunk system with thrust meters that offer unparalleled fair runs with an explosion of water upon every start. Also expected at the Fall National is a return of the battle for the title of the fastest PWC in the world. Julio Rivera of Puerto Rico was the first person to break the 100 mph mark in the Spring National at the same location and many will be gunning for him. Others will be chasing Dan Okeffe of Missouri, the defending HydroDrag Spring and Summer Nationals Champion in the Hydro Unlimited class and the $1000 cash purse for that class win. Okeefe aboard his Turbo powered Sea-Doo RXP is rumored to produce close to 400 hp.

WaterTop will also institute the Grudge Match Call Out Drags for the first time where individuals can challenge their friend or foe in a best of three race to earn bragging rights. The Grudge Match Call-Out Drags will follow racing on Saturday afternoon as well as the new HYDROBOXSTOCK class a new class where anybody can compete and NO modifications of any kind are permitted. This class is intended to open up HydroDrag competition to every day enthusiasts with minimal costs and effort.

Malabar Moes of Malabar, FL will be on-site again serving succulent food and drinks for all the spectators, fans, family, and racers. Vendors are welcomed to contact Watertop about joining the event with event title sponsor Riva Racing, the world leader in PWC aftermarket performance parts and accessories.

The Space Coast FISH BOWL Freestyle comp will take place Saturday night in a Pond in front of the Comfort Suites and Siggy's All American Grill during the Saturday night Racer Party.

The C-54 canal is the ideal venue for this event with a long straight waterway roughly 80 yards wide and protected from the wind with high embankments that offer ideal stadium style viewing for fans. Admission is free to the Riva Racing HydroDrag Fall Nationals and there is plenty of parking area at the C-54 facility, thanks to the St. Johns Water Management District.

Full event information will be available on the new www.watertopevents.com website or contact WaterTop directly at 321.409.0519 and info@watertopunlimited.com.

Didn't the apba used to be anti-jetski? I could be wrong but I remember something about it.

And WTH is the kilowatt flop? LOL?

APBA Personal Watercraft Racing (PWR) is APBA’s newest racing category. Men, Women and Junior riders can start with a stock PWC and compete in many exciting classes, including Stock, Limited and Open. Junior Ski 10-12 class is open to 10-year-old riders. Watercross is a side-by-side battle of riders and machines, hitting 75 MPH on a 1/2- to 3/4-mile track that keeps competition tight and fans close to the action. Each race begins with one of the most gut-wrenching experiences in motorsports—the side-by-side gated start. All 20 riders explode off the line, each thinking, "I’m going to be the first one to that buoy." Riders speed through turns, and sail over log jumps. Endurance long-distance races test riders' stamina, and the reliability of their equipment. Freestyle highlights the acrobatic abilities of these athletes and their watercraft, performing two-minute Olympic-style routines for a panel of judges. Some of the tricks are: Aerial Barrel Roll; Yellow Submarine; Hollywood Corkscrew; Kilowatt Flop; Ride ’Em Cowboy; and Bull Doggin'. APBA Personal Watercraft Racing can give you a chance to participate in a fun and exciting sport and meet new friends! Email patrickmell@aol.com or call APBA at 586-773-9700. That was the precursor to Around The World, and is really dated like that whole paragraph. Wow, hitting 75mph? Seriously? Mac was doing that on his GP1200 back in 99 with triple pipes.

Just got back from watching Lloyd Burlew test the lake. Its a great location on one of the busiest streets in brevard county 1000 ft from I-95. Which will get a lot of looks from general people who are needed to grow the sport. Dozens of people stopped in the 45 mins we were there. Its a great promotion by Watertop with hopefully more events at this spot to come. Anyone who needs info contact the number listed at the start of this thread. The event starts at 7pm saturday.

It was a small event to be sure....but IMO just the type of event that freestyle jetskiing needs more of. A stand alone, grassroots event (no racing) right on a busy road where people could stop and experience freestyle/freeride for the first time.

When Lloyd Burlew ran the American Flag around the 'fish bowl' under the lights on his ski during the national anthem, you could see traffic slowing and cars turning in/stopping.

Parrdaddy had an impressive ride. Several big barrel rolls including one over/through the water fountain in the middle of the 'fish bowl.' Highlight for me was seeing him do an underflip in flatwater on a stock hull!!!
