I am riding my 12superjet, it is ccurrently completely stock. I've got a little cash to play with and could afford footholds,turf,and maybe an intake grate. I am wandering how much this is going to open a door to new tricks for say,Im trying to decide ski parts or something else I've been wanting. Is it worth just those three items or better off when I could also do some power mods with the holds and turf. Only my second season riding And would appreciate some feed back. Thanks!

Don't waste any green on a stock hull, mod your motor until you have the cash for a aftermarket hull then simply transfer everything over in my opinion

if its a 2012 id just ride the thing and do some of simple performance mods.
In order
Factory B pipe
Hooker impeller
Ada girdled head

and foot holds from there.
the pipe,prop, and head alone will wake the ski up unbelievably.

I would try foot straps if you want more control to complete more tricks. Holds are more of a commitment IMO.

If you want more power, yeah^^^ all that stuff will make a huge difference.

Search around and you'll find good suggestions. But for the most part element is spot on. If you don't have cash for pipe and other bolt ons go ahead and do holds and turf. It's needed anyway for even the easiest of tricks.

Also search re: grate on the newer SJs, I believe most like the stock vs a more aggressive scoop like we run on the older hulls as they grab too much.

Ignore the schmoo suggesting to save up for an A/M hull, your clean '12 is more than capable for years to come and as you progress you'll figure out where you will need or want to go as far as all that.

The pre 08 hull is a better freestyle machine.

You will need to update the steering if you want to "freestyle" the 08 and up hull. Don't forget to adjust the nozzle angle on the trim ring.

If you're just starting out, that ski will be plenty for you until you decide which direction you want to go. I'd definitely go with the footholds and turf if the budget is tight. Then pipe, prop, etc. from there. And you can do the free mod, too. Quick steer.

From my own experience this is what I think the optimum upgrade down the road is: Btw I bought my 2010 brand new SJ exactly 1 year ago and I have pretty much put all the mods available for it.

1. Steering... Absolutely number one for this ski. Post 08 SJ have shorter steering cable and they turn horrible. For that, you need a/m cable as the stocker is garbage. Get Cold fusion steering system. Its the cheapest and most reliable. It uses stock bushings and its awesome. Get riser bars as well and cut your stock chinpad to fit for the new goodies. after this mod your riding will improve drastically and you will have much more fun just riding around.
2. cut your riding plate flush with the hull and shorten your stock pole, make urself a limiting rope.. all its free and easy :)
3. Bilge pumps. Its a must!
4. Turf and foodholds. The stock turf is concrete and horrible. At this point you will be able to make nicer jumps and first trick submarines :))
5. Intake grade
6. B-pipe... this is the first pricey upgrade, but it will open the braap of your ski to another level :)
7. ADA head
8. hooker prop
9. MSD enhancer
The rest is up to you: Engine keepers, a/m hood&nose piece, reinforcing the hull if you ride surf.

Yes, you need after market steering cable or pre-08 SJ cable regardless of the a/m steering system. The stock post-08 steering cable has too short travel. Stock throttle lever would work for straight bars, you only need to remove the little pin that holds the lever on place, however I would recommend you go with after market throttle lever. PJS lever is the best I have had so far, better than home modified bicycle lever and better than Blowsion lever. I don't think stock lever would fit on riser bars.
