Woohoo!

Nobody with me, so I was a little hesitant, but the Mississippi Queen was headed up to Cincinnati for 'Tall Stacks', a riverboat festival and was throwing a good 5' high wake, so I went for it.

I started out just using the trim and jumping to see how it was going to throw me, then started looking, then the 6th or so I actually squatted and pulled, but didn't look. I got past horizontal because I saw the nose hit water before my head went under, and that's how I also know I didn't look, because I saw the nose....

I'm stoked. A little more trim throw, a little more tuning (running like crap right now), and both squatting/looking and I'll be around.

i landed a couple like that the last 2 times i rode hillsboro. its not so bad landing upside-downish/nosepiece first.

my rotation seems to go to the side though.....

maybe ill try harder next time

you know, on the blaster I stare at the nose until I think to myself, I'm not going to go all the way around....then I look to see how much time I have before I land on my head.

Congrats on the attempts. Were they your first??

More testicles :haha: I wish I got down to the ramp sooner. I would have loved to have seen the attempts. I am a chichen. I want to feel the rotation before I hit a 5ft wake. I have been horozontal on a small wave but need to squat to keep connected with the boat.

Congrats on the attempts. I have landed on my head a few times but never fully commited. Dont know why but always second guess myself at the last minute:banghead:

No, it achually hurts you on some waves like the ocean. On flatwater it helps b/c most of the cruiser waves are "rollers" and do not have a crest, but in the ocean hitting the wave before it curls is optimal and the power in the wave will achually add momentum to your rotation. At least that is what I think, but I have never been in the ocean :haha:

That's f'n great Darin! I've tried several this season also... I always forget to arch my back, so I end up not spotting my landing... so I end up pancaking. Can't seem to break that habbit.

Sounds like you did the same thing...

I figure since my roll form is so screwed up and so ingrained in my riding, that I better start focusing on something else that I don't have bad form on. lol

Yep, I was pretty stoked with my attempts last night, if I just squat and look, I think I'll get it 3/4 around and nose in.

The best part is this: Tall Stacks is going on in Cincy rightnow, so most of the riverboats are there, and they HAVE to pass Louisville to get back down south, so hopefully I'll have some more good waves like those to work with.

The Delta Queen is going a roundtrip from Cincy to L'ville and back this weekend, I'm going to call and get their departure time from L'ville and make a plan to be gassed up and ready to go. I just wish we could get someone on the boat with a camera, that would be awesome.
