Impeller f. 140mm Mag..?

Hey guys, I hope you can help me with your experiance...

I rind a Rickter FR2 Evo with a 771cc 85mm bore SJ engine with B-pipe, 190psi compression and the usuall engine mods.

My friend rode my ski a few weeks ago and blew the stock pump up totally, so I bought a used pump that according to the seller were a Solas 144mm Magnum pump with a Solas 12/16 impeller and Wamilton tilt on a rebuilt 61X reduction nozzle. I never saw the pump before it landed at my house, but when I received it I noticed that it is a 12 vein 140mm Skat-Trak Setback magnum pump with a EZ Pull trim system and a unbored 62T reduction nozzle... However, the impeller was a Skat 12/16.

I mounted this pump in the ski to see how it behaved, but I'm not very happy... Feels like the impeller is spinning and not getting me any push at all. It works quite well when it comes to top speed, but as I ride freeride/surf/flatwater I want a bit more push in the low end. In my stock pump I ran a 13/17 large hub Skat and were happy with it.

As I have no experiance at all with the 140mm pumps, my question for you is if you think that I can get this pump to work on my ski with another impeller, or if a 140mm pump is too small? I searched the forum before posting this, and it seems that some people here used 140's... If you think it will work with 140mm for me, what pitch do you suggest when it comes to the impeller? As it feels now, the 12/16 is waay wrong...

Will be happy to hear your opinions! :)

Btw, please excuse my english, I'm a stupid Swede...

the smaller the pump, the bigger the prop you need. i have and have ran a bunch of 140 skat mag pumps. most of the props i find are 16/21 16/22. they were in superstock race skis, but depending on HP,nozzle size, cone size, that pitch seems to work pretty good with the power i had. it may be a bit too big for your motor. thats another thing about the 140, when they spool up, they rip on top end. thats why all race pumps were 140mm back in the day

I recently bought one as well, guy was running it in a roundnose surf ski with a modified 760...he originally had a skat 13/18 in it but had it repitched to a 14/18 to "mellow" it out...he said the 140 skat ripped hard but was actually too violent off the bottom and replaced it with a solas 144 12v pump and 10/16 hooker. He said it definetly mellowed the ski out. It definetly sounds kinda odd but I did some searching and have definely seen 140s used in am freestyle hulls so Im guessing if you start closer to that and play with nozzle size you can make it work...I talked to skat and he said I was in the ballpark and we could definetly make it work, but your 781 should def have more power than me so possibly a 14/19 could work really well for you
