I'd be lost without the x
Hey guys. Wondering if anyone knows what the duty rate is for importing a new 08 Superjet into Canada from the U.S.?

Thanks,

9.5% or 12.5% I forget what percentage I paid last year.

+ 13% sales tax of course. No reg fee/special paperwork required. Jetski is classified as
"general cargo" its not a vehicle and not subject to RIV fees.

I called customs to double check, just tell them you are importing a jetski with the mfg origin on Japan and see what they say.
Call Canadian Border Security Ass. Google them for the #.

I did this 3 weeks ago, if you bring it back in the box of a truck the rules are different then if it is brought over on a trailer(because its opperating on land technically) you need title, proof of origin, bill of sale. you will have to pay 5% gst, then any provincial tax on top of that. then duty which i believe cost around $600.
I bought it for $6399 so that works out to be 9%, since i bought it in montana i didn't have any state taxes there.

The border guy didn't even see the jet ski in the box of my truck, and I prob could have got away with out declairing it but i would rather not have to leave it at the boarder if they caught me.
best thing is to be completly honest i only spent at most 30 min there

import tax

they will also charge you with a import duty .because the superjet is made out of country they with charge you another 10% because the model number starts with a letter and not a number. that hapened to me last time a brought one across .

I have never bought one brand new and brought it across but on used skis, i just pay the 5% gst. I just show them ownership and bill of sale and im on my way. Then when you get it registered you have to pay the rest of the tax on the machine,

I was inquiring about an 08 with a dealer and mentioned I was Canadian and he told me they absolutely could not sell it to me. Thought that was kinda funny. Told him my girlfriend lives in Michigan and she would be buying it and he said can't do it because you mentioned Canada... haha what a tool!
I guess Yamaha has strict rules that they don't want the ski to be sold to any Canadians... Nice, they don't sell them here and wont allow us to buy and import them.

You'll pay 10% on top of the 9.5% duty?

Same thing here on all the used machines I've ever brought across. Just the taxes no duty.

Maybe you should look for a ski thats a couple of years old thats got some mods unless you really want the new hull?

me too...only taxes no duties...never had any problems but they have all been used skis...just make sure you declare the poper amount of how much you paid and can prove it, bill of sale, money order receipt, etc...a pretty painless process to tell you the truth.
